It’s served me well on the host I’ve had for more than a decade (yikes! Is that really true?) but in the past couple of years I’ve gotten frustratingly higher amounts of spam. Unfortunately my hosting solution didn’t provide any sort of spam protection so I was forced to use passive methods like the junk filter in Mozilla Thunderbird (my e-mail client of choice). That’s worked fairly well too as long as I have an e-mail client open. Go away for a weekend or forget my laptop somewhere and I’d be greeted with hundreds of spam messages in my webmail client inbox. I was more than willing to live with it for a long time. Recently though as I’ve been getting used to the new BlackBerry (in case you hadn’t noticed) I’ve been enjoying the whole e-mail-in-my-pocket thing.
