ESET Announces Availability of Antivirus for Smartphones
MarketWatch
The increasing quantity of personal and company data stored on
these devices, including data unknowingly stored in browser caches, make
mobile devices especially vulnerable to malware and other malicious
exploits. By utilizing ESET’s NOD32 scanning technology,
this lightweight anti-malware software has been optimized to proactively
protect mobile devices from the latest malicious attacks. The addition
of spam protection for SMS messaging adds another layer of security. “After experiencing performance issues with a
mobile antivirus solution offered by a large security vendor, I
downloaded ESET Mobile Antivirus when it became available in beta form
because I had used ESET NOD32 for years and had been extremely impressed
with the accuracy and speed of the desktop solution,”
said Walter Goddard a service manager at Superwinch Inc. “Aside
from the peace of mind ESET provides by proactively protecting me from
malicious attacks, the greatest benefit is that it has virtually no
impact on my phone’s performance. ”

One of the biggest challenges to providing mobile security for smaller
platforms like smartphones is their inherently limited memory,
processing, battery and bandwidth capabilities. With its light
footprint, efficient use of processing power, ability to scan removable
memory devices and compact update files, ESET Mobile Antivirus
effectively delivers protection against attacks, within the constraints
of mobile devices.

Agnitum Outpost Pro Security Suite 2009 review
PC Advisor, UK
Unlike rival software security suites, Agnitum is slightly more constrained: it doesn’t for example give you the benefit of a backup system or system maintenance. Agnitum Outpost Pro Security Suite 2009 continues to score well in large AV group tests, and still earns a current Virus Bulletin VB100 badge. Its spam protection, however, is a mixed bag – it was overwhelmed by a collection of 6000+ spam messages. Rather than processing them as they arrived, Agnitum Outpost Pro Security Suite 2009 initially accepted all the email into the Windows Mail inbox and then scanned them afterwards, which took a long time to complete. Its accuracy was average – it correctly spotted 96 percent of the spam but of the remaining 4 percent ‘non-spam’, over half of it was still junk. Training definitely helps here.

ISACA Survey: Online Holiday Shopping Puts Hong Kong Businesses at …
MarketWatch
“Clearly, more can be and should be done to educate employees, business
managers and IT planners about the risks that online shopping at work
brings to businesses in Hong Kong. From our perspective, both IT
security structures and users’ awareness or consciousness of the risks
they are facing are equally importantly against IT security threats,”
says Vincent Chan, president of ISACA’s Hong Kong chapter. “Sensible IT
investment, governance and protection are instrumental to business
success. Companies are now more cost conscious given the current global
business environment, and because of this they need to be even more
prudent about protecting of their IT investments. ”

The ISACA Hong Kong survey was conducted concurrently with similar
surveys with consumers and ISACA members in the U. , and the results
from the Hong Kong survey largely reflect a similar pattern among U.
